Purpose of the Course:

The purpose of the course is to assist states in meeting their own search and rescue needs and obligation they accepted under the convention of ICAO. This will be achieved by providing SMCs with the required knowledge, skills and attitudes to carry out SMC function effectively and efficiency in accordance with ICAO Standard and Recommended Practices (SARPs). The proficiency of graduates will be maintained through periodic both paper as well as drill exercises.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, the trainee will be able to:

a)      Determine aircraft emergency phase

b)      Develop SAR action plan

c)      Allocate resources to  search area

d)      Follow up SAR operations progress

e)      Evaluate SAR operations outcome 

Target Population:

Mainly Civil Air Traffic Control Officers, Military Air Traffic Control Officers and Navy Operations Officers
